Gran Fondo Internazionale Felice Gimondithe regulations REGULATIONS 2008 PARTICIPATION - The race is open to all men and women registered with the F.C.I. or Consulting Bodies and have been medically certified as well as foreign amateur cyclists, between the age of 18 and 65, who have a valid 2008 membership issued by their federation. Any type of bicycle can be used to participate (racing bikes, mountain bikes, tandems, etc.). The race is open to minors who are registered members F.C.I., as well as registered Cycle tourists only for the 95.7 km race. The Organising Committee reserves the right to reject undesired entries. DAILY LICENCE – It is compulsory in order to participate to the race to have a Cycling Licence from FCI (Italian Cycling Federation) or other Consulting Bodies. For those who do not have a yearly licence it is possible to take out a FCI daily licence at the cost of € 5,00 to be paid in cash at the time of issue. The licence can be requested at the time of entering the competition or directly at the Organization Secretary desk on Friday, 9th of Saturday, 10th of May 2008. The licence insures the athlete. In order to obtain the licence, the athlete must present, at the moment of issuing, a Certificate of Agonistic Fitness, which will entitle the athlete to chose between the three routes, or a simple Medical Certificate attesting a state of good health which will entitle the athlete to take part to the Short Route only (Fondo). ROUTES - The Gran Fondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi includes three different routes: 95,7 km / 134,5 km / 165,3 km. During the race the athletes are free to choose the route they prefer. ENTRIES -
will open on the 7th of January 2008 and can be made directly to the G.M.Sport Organising Committee in Via G. Da Campione 24/b -24124 Bergamo (tel.+39 35 211721 - fax +39 35 4227971) or by clearly filling in the Registration Form (original or photocopy) in all its parts using capital letters. The entry fee can be paid in the following ways: Your details will be used to inform your relatives should the need arise. REGISTRATION DEADLINE Saturday 19st April 2008. REGISTRATION FEES - Euro 27,00+Euro 10,00 (for the deposit of the TDS Chip which will be reimbursed at the end of the race when returning the Chip) - includes: race numbers, association fee, magazine/program, TDS Chip rental, commemorative medal (delivered at the finishing line), pasta party ticket, medical assistance, mechanical assistance (replaced parts are not included), massages, feed points, showers, final refreshment, final results by email and sms and the participation in the drawing of 100 wonderful prizes. Euro 85,00+Euro 10,00 - includes the items listed above plus the commemorative jersey in wool, short sleeve, short zip, exclusive design, “Gran Premio delle Nazioni 1967”, the thirteenth of the series "FELICE GIMONDI", to book through the registration form.REFOUNDING - Fees will not be refunded for any reason. Should a registered athlete not able to participate to the race he/she will have the possibility to transfer his/hers registration to another person by requesting this by the 19th of April 2008 and paying an additional administration fee of € 5,00. The new participant will provide his/hers personal details to the Organising Committee.Fees will not be refunded if the race is cancelled due to reasons not depending on the Organising Committee (natural disasters, revocation of administrative authorizations..).The Cycling Teams that intends on participating at the "Greatest Numbers of Participants" Standing, has to fill the Group Registration Form out, registering ALL the participants in ONE form. RACE NUMBERS AND RACE PACKAGES
- They must be collected at the Expo Gimondi, inside the Lazzaretto, next to Bergamo football/soccer stadium, showing the original receipt of payment. BIKE AND BACK RACE NUMBERS - The race number is strictly personal and it can not be transferred to anyone else. It is prohibited to tamper with the race numbers. Athletes who minimise, cut off or hide any logo/writing printed on the race numbers will not receive any prize won, even in the case of a drawn prize. Fill in carefully the back of your race number before placing it on the back of your shirt: a detailed description of diseases or pathologies will help the medical assistance in case of problems and will enable the Organising Committee to promptly manage any emergency. GRIDS - The first grid will be reserved to: women, guests, the 72 'Regulars' (athletes that took part in all the past editions of Gran Fondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi), the first 100 classified in Gran Fondo 2007, the first 25 classified in Medio Fondo 2007 and the first 25 classified in Fondo 2007 (regularly registered by Saturday the 19th of April 2008). All the subsequent gates will be exclusively based on entry date. A place in the first grid is guaranteed to those who are entitled if regularly registered by the registration deadline (19th of April 2008). Should the Committee decide to extend the deadline the participants will be placed in grids according to the entry date. ENTRY TO THE STARTING GRIDS -The grids will be open from 6.10am to 6.50am. Late comers will start from the last grid. G.M. Sport has the right to suspend cyclists that will not respect the established grid order and will not follow the instructions given by the “grid assistants”. START - At 7.00am from Via Marzabotto, next to the Lazzaretto and Bergamo football/soccer stadium. WINNING TIME CHIP AND TIME-STUDY - The time-study service will be directed by TDS and will be based on the TDS Chip which every athlete must fasten around the ankle. The TDS Chip will be given to the athletes at the time of collection of the race number and pack and it is compulsory for everybody taking part in the race. The athletes who will not wear the TDS Chip will not be part of the time-study and ranking. Only TDS Chips distributed by the Organising Committee at the time of the race number/pack collection are allowed. MAXIMUM TIME -
8.3 hours for the Gran Fondo 165.3 Km (by 3.30 pm); TIME GATES - In Ambria (km 72,3) after 11.30am all the participants MUST TAKE the route Fondo; in Brembilla (km 115,9) after 12,15 pm all the participants MUST TAKE the route Medio Fondo. Gate closing times may change due to organising reasons. Other Time Gates may be appointed by the Organising Committee. AFTER THE RACE - All the participants who have regularly crossed the finishing line will be entitled to the official race medal. The rankings and the personalized diploma will be available for free, in the days following the race, on the official site www.felicegimondi.com. Any request for variations/additions to the rankings will have to be communicated to the Organising Committee by the 17th of May 2008 via email to info@felicegimondi.com or fax to +39 035 4227971. After this date the rankings will be final and non changeable. HELMET - All participants must wear a safety helmet in accordance to the F.C.I. norms for the whole duration of the race. CHASE CARS
- Chase cars or any other vehicles are prohibited. Violation of this rule will cause the participant to be immediately disqualified from the race. FIRST AID ASSISTANCE -It will be located on the route, at starting and arrival points without any sort of responsibility for the Organizing Committee. THE ROAD IS OPEN TO TRAFFIC - Participants must observe and respect the rules of the road. The Committee declines any responsibility for incidents that may happen before, during or after the race amongst the race participants or with a third party. For any further information please refer to the National Cycling Commission regulation of the FCI. CONTROLS - Along the route athletes will be checked by the TDS controls in order to be classified. Missing even one check-in will exclude them from the final ranking.

INDIVIDUAL PRIZES – It will be received by: GROUP PRIZES - Two classifications will be drawn; prizes will be assigned to: CHANGES -The Organizing Committee reserves the right to apply changes to the race regulations for reasons considered indispensable for the better success of the event or due to major force. SUSPENSIONS -
The athletes are not allowed to participate to the race with race numbers belonging to other cyclists. A breach in the rules will cause the athletes to be immediately suspended from the race for a period between 1 and 3 years. IMAGE COPYRIGHT - By subscribing the registration form the participant authorizes the Organising Commitee and its institutional or commercial partners to freely use any image still or moving taken of the participant during the course of the Gran Fondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi. This authorization to use the images is intended for an indefinite time in the respect of the law and regulations and without territorial limits for the use on publications, exemplifying film segments, promotional and advertising material on any support. COMPLAINTS - Eventual complaints have to be made to the Jury in the regulation terms, and have to be accompanied by the entree receipt. WEB SITE - Official mean of information of the event. All the official communications and possible variations of the registration deadlines will be posted on the web site. INFORMATION - For any information on the 13th edition of the Gran Fondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi please contact: IMPORTANT - I state to know and to respect the regulations of the Event and the F.C.I. rules, and to be of age before the date of the Gran Fondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi. I know that I am not allowed to take part into the event if I am not physically qualified and suitably prepared. I submit my registration voluntarily and I undertake all the risks connected to my participation in the race, as falls, crashes with other cyclists, cars, spectators etc., and including cases of bad weather conditions or cold temperature, traffic and conditions of the road. |
