GF Gimondi Bianchi hits the 3600 mark!

A successful edition to take place on May 10th. 28 nations represented, 30% of the participants are under 40 of age: “Hurry up, there are just a couple of entries left”

After reaching the 3600 (partecipants) mark, Granfondo Felice Gimondi Bianchi is certainly going to celebrate a successful edition in 2015. “We still have a few dozens of places availableGiuseppe Manenti said – but we know they will be filled in just a few hours and many more people will ask to be there. But to stop is the right thing to do. We have reached our goal, after the restart in 2014, we are back to be in the number of the big Granfondo events, also in terms of figures.

Sunday, May 10th, is coming and everything is in the right place. At the headquarters of GM Sport, in Bergamo, there’s no time for improvisation: “If we went ahead with the registrations – Manenti added – it would mean to give up some details and this is a thing we don’t want to do. The Granfondo Gimondi Bianchi is recognized for its high organizational and security standards. Those who come to this event know that everything is set up to work to perfection.

While the final numbers are waiting for their lucky owners, the picture of the situation is already done. The Gran Fondo, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the yellow jersey won by Felice Gimondi at the 1965 Tour de France, will have the highest ever number of nations represented, 28. Bianchi, the main sponsor, came up with a powerful international flavor, inviting nearly 200 guests from around the world to Bergamo to celebrate 130 years since the company was created.

The ingredients for having a memorable day are all in place. “We have successfully passed over the crisis of 2013, when we had a year off, due to viability issues. That could have been a major blow, but we came back stronger than before, with 2300 people registered last year, which was a huge vote of confidence. The success we already have this year tells us that we can look with confidence and ambition towards the 20th edition”, Manenti said.

GM Sport has a very advanced database, which comes with some very interesting figures, one above all: 30% of the entrants are under the age of 40, and this confirms the fact that the bicycle is trending among young people. Also, 6% of the people registered for the Granfondo Gimondi Bianchi are women, while the average number in other events it’s around 4%.

Judging by the number of the companies and international partners that came in as sponsors, as well as the presence of the international media, we can see that the event taking place in Bergamo is a very good organized one. “This is an event with an enormous potential and I hope that sooner or later the city will become more aware of it”, Manenti concluded.
